December 11 - Poinsettias and Bulbs
December is spring bulb planting season, and Bettie Abbate, Professor of Horticulture at Delgado
Community College, will talk about bulbs for South Louisiana. Our greenhouse will be full of beautiful
Poinsettias of all colors and sizes, perfect for gifts, office, church, and home. Everything that loves being
planted in December will be for sale - bulbs, fruit trees, hardwood and flowering trees, flowering shrubs,
pine mulch, and cool weather annuals. Free seeds and saplings!
January 8 - New Year’s Vegetables
New Orleans is one of the few places that have bountiful harvests this time of year. Parkway Partners’
Community Gardener Philip Soulet will show us what is growing in his garden, ‘Bienville’, and talk about
how to create the garden of your culinary dreams. Vegetables, herbs, trees, bedding plants and mulch will
be for sale.
February 12 - Fruit Trees in NOLA
Russel Harris, Orleans Parish Extension Agent, will have a presentation on fruit trees, concentrating on
citrus. Louisiana has the best tasting citrus. Find out why and how to grow your own. Fruit trees for sale,
along with flowering trees and shrubs, Mardi Gras pansies and violas, and long leaf Bogalusa pine straw.
March 12 - Gardening in New Orleans for New Orleanians and Newcomers
Keith Bleichner, retired Head Landscape Architect for the Department of Parks and Parkways, and
‘passalong’ expert, will talk about New Orleans’ all-time favorites and how to make them showstoppers in
your own garden. Swap Table and free seeds.
March 26 Tree and Plant Sale in Gentilly - 8a.m. - noon - our biggest sale of the year, in partnership with
the staff of the Department of Parks and Parkways. Expert landscape architects, arborists,
