Our Current Programs

Parkway Partners recognizes that the health and vitality of our city are reflected in its green spaces and urban forest. All programs rely on citizen action, volunteerism and financial support. It is our residents and volunteers who plant and maintain trees, cultivate our schoolyard and urban gardens, and maintain our neutral grounds.

2nd Saturdays
On the 2nd Saturday of each month, we host a lecture on a gardening-related topic. Experts from across the state discuss horticultural issues relative to New Orleans’ microclimate. Beginning in 2018, these lectures will take place at gardens, farms, and other community green spaces across the city.

ReLeaf New Orleans
This initiative was created following the wrath of Hurricane Katrina in order to replace New Orleans’ lost urban canopy.

Tree Troopers
Free and open to the public, Tree Troopers is a 12-hour educational series that offers comprehensive training on maintaining New Orleans’ urban forest, both in the classroom and in the field.

Seed Libraries
We stock six seed libraries from which any resident can obtain free seeds (edibles, flowers, and herbs) to plant in a community garden or their own backyard.

Urban Gardens
This program encompasses transforming vacant or neglected lots into community gardens, urban farms, or other green spaces.
