Our Current Programs
Parkway Partners recognizes that the health and vitality of our city are reflected in its green spaces and urban forest. All programs rely on citizen action, volunteerism and financial support. It is our citizens and volunteers who plant and maintain trees, cultivate our schoolyard and urban gardens, and maintain our neutral grounds.
On the 2nd Saturday of each month, Parkway Partners hosts a lecture and corresponding plant sale. Experts from across the state discuss horticultural issues relative to New Orleans’ microclimate.
ReLeaf New Orleans
This initiative was created following the wrath of Hurricane Katrina in order to replace New Orleans’ lost urban canopy.
This program encompasses transforming vacant or neglected lots into community gardens, urban farms, or other green spaces.
Citizens plant and maintain neutral grounds in support of the efforts of the Department of Parks and Parkways.
Our organization helps design and build schoolyard gardens. It then works with teachers to incorporate the garden into the curricula.
