Community Gardens

Since its inception, Parkway Partners’ Community Gardens Program has offered support to over a hundred community gardens, urban farms, and orchards.

The sites are as distinct and unique as the people who use them. Each serves New Orleans in its own way, whether it’s fighting food insecurity at a neighborhood level, removing pollutants from a blighted lot through soil bioremediation, inspiring kids through gardening-based education, or simply holding space for neighbors to gather and grow together.

Parkway Partners presently serves as a support network for its existing gardens, urban farms, and orchards. Support varies by site but can include:

Use of tool lending library
Vegetable, herb and flower seeds via our Seed Libraries
Volunteer Placements
Promotion of garden events/needs via e-mail lists & social media
Connections to suppliers
Liability insurance
Access to a network of over 700 growers
