It was horrible to hear the news this morning about an unknown individual poisoning some of the best examples of Chinese Pistache in the city. The trees, located on Baronne Street between Howard Avenue and Julia Street, had angled holes drilled into them (pictured below) which were then filled with herbicide. We first read about this through the New Orleans Advocate, and they will hopefully continue to follow this story as we learn more.
Beautiful, mature trees were hurt beyond repair, and we sincerely hope they find the culprit. Do you think the city should have harsher consequences for disruption of our green infrastructure? Do you think the city will be able to successfully establish new trees? Hopefully this will not be a common occurrence in the city! (photo courtesy of the New Orleans Advocate)
