Parkway Partners will be hosting three events in celebration of National Food Day on Thursday, October 24.
11:00am- Andrew Loyd of LSU AgCenter and the New Orleans Mycological society will be leading a mushroom workshop titled “From Hay Bale to Skillet: Oyster Mushroom Cultivation Demonstration.” The 30 minute demo will feature everything from spore prints to running spawn to fruiting mushrooms. 12:30pm- Jamal Elhayek and Katie Lerin of SUA NOLA (Sustaining Urban Agriculture in New Orleans) will be demonstrating how to start and maintain micro greens. This will take place at Parkway Partners’ Greenhouse, lasting 30 mins-1 hr.
2:00pm- Emily Mickley-Doyle and Matt Glassman of SPROUT NOLA will lead a group conversation on the viability of making a living at urban farming in New Orleans. The discussion will occur inside Parkway Partners. Come join in the discussion!
